The cycle of water is fundamental to the health of the earth we are born into. It is happy birthday to us all with every shower. We are oriented towards weather being something outside of us but, in truth, we are as much a part of each terrestrial event just as our bodies are a part of what is obviously earthly. Perhaps we will, one day, have the capacity to understand this connection. As it is, we call out welcoming a change in weather seasonally not realizing that it is our own participation that we are celebrating and ritualizing. Show me my winter self; show me my summer self; show me as I am in spring and autumn, too. We will dance as soon as we connect to seeing ourselves in our requests and the gift that the earth brings in an unconditional promise of supporting our precious lives.

This is a short about the EPIC half time performance Prince did at the Super Bowl football game in the United States in 2007. He owned the moment and accepted reality as provident however it presented itself, then he synchronized his intentions accordingly. Millions watched in awe as he became the storm and translated it for us through his art. The song Purple Rain has always signified something personal for me about the cycle of water on the earth and the natural drama of personal storms breaking a person free, replenishing them or sweeping them into living fully their own unique life. Watching this entire clip always opens my heart.
Prince was aptly named in this moment. He ruled.
