I think it is fascinating to think that all the acts of intention that we choose to do in the world are aggregated into structuring the lives of all of humanity. So someone buys a meal for someone they see begging on the street, for instance. That act is less about the people involved as it is about the overall love that is released through an act of caring. Likewise, flipping off a pan handler. That action is not about the people involved either but the vibration of the act simply hangs in the atmosphere seeking like-leaden energy and lingers like a discarded piece of plastic requiring everyone's lifetime to decompose. None of us are in this life alone and we all are effected by all that we choose to do. In this way, we are all kin.
Hafiz suggests we put our best selves forward in our choices and in doing so we will experience and be able to share more of what is pure enjoyment of each other.
...Sing
Because this is a food
Our starving world needs...
Music:
...I just can’t be happy, love
Unless you’re happy too
It’s bad out there
High water everywhere...
So sings Dylan in this song, High Water (For Charlie Patton) from his stellar 2001 album, Love & Theft. The songs on this album are tunes that he loved with lines that he stole, as the album title implies. Our joys are tempered by the sorrow of others. All the more reason to be a helper in this world. Everyone benefits.
