Born this Way

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

In this post I explore what kind of differences arise when planned babies are born and raised to live as desired humans.

This picture makes me think of Lilith, the dark female principle in human beings. This energy is framed in people’s minds many different ways and each way that it is seen, reveals how each person relates to their own raw, primal and natural feminine experience in their lives. Everyone has a Lilith in their natal zodiac chart and with a little bit of interest and research one can find out where they were born to stand with this energy in their lives. The very clever can begin to consciously work with it, if they are so inclined. This is a deeply suppressed energy by puritanical standards so it can be easily culturally vilified and distorted. Within passion this aspect can be revered and outside of that, terrifying. I find acknowledging and respecting this energy key to understanding how we need to alter our behaviors to live sustainably with the earth and each other.

Different Ways #02 Born this Way

Back in the 1970's and 80's I was in therapy. I was trying to better understand what my options were in being in the world and learn new ways of communication. A big part of that process was talk therapy. Basically this involved women sitting around in a circle speaking from their hearts. Each talked while all of the rest of us listened and held a safe space for that woman to share her story. A witnessing. It was a very powerful healing technique. Cathartic. As each story surfaced it would inspire someone else's story and this is how we helped each other back then. It was a kind of medicine. A women's medicine.

During this time, when my mother would travel down to my place to visit, we often would kick back and have a chat at the kitchen table with an adult beverage. I dialed it up a notch or two as I became better at taking advantage of these kinds of casual chats to ask questions...real questions that I did not know the answer for...historical questions. I think we get into a kind of well worn communication path with our families...our parents especially and just banter in a comfortable manner. I became curious about my mother's experience in the past, loaded up as I was on these stories from these women, and I received an earful when she complied.

Since the introduction of empowering women over reproduction, there has been for the first time in human history, a matter of choice given to parents about when they want children. Women can choose if and when to bear children. While many may see this as an affront to what they deem as natural or too spiritually contrived, it is, I believe, the refinement of human relationship to childbearing and rearing. Many of the American children born from the 60’s onward are children born of choice and this has brought a brand new kind of human into our lives and our society. These children only know being chosen and are showing us this intention creates different individuals.

Those of us born of consequence - post WWII - can learn and might consider appreciating what a difference this means in evolution. Our lives for the most part were stumbled upon in comparison to these planned-for young people. We need to understand our own happenstance of consummation and birth. We might want to consider this influence and recognize that many adults who are walking among us today...their lives are not the same. They were conceived, raised and groomed with a unique focus and intention.

Music: When I refer to "the feminine" in my book, it is often the dark female - the suppressed feminine energy - that I am referring to because this is what I believe needs to be empowered in the world. I'm of the belief, because of my own experiences, that there is great healing to be had by identifying how the suppressed, dark female energy can work work to help us learn to keep our world sustainable and healthy. That said, I almost guarantee you that this world of what I speak does not look like any world that we live in now. We are way deep into destroying our existing manufactured world identity. It is less a good/evil story now as it is a give and take scenario based in honest discernment. We are empowered to make choices and, personally, to face the consequences of them. Is it giving? Is it receiving? Is it kind and compassionate? Is it vengeful and punitive? Is it subjugating and controlling? Is it based in fear and ignorance? So, I'm saying the way is steep yet. I think it is helpful recognizing how we can permit - make time and space for - the changes that need to happen to realign human beings with what is sustainable in this world.

Like the picture depicting Lilith above suggests - and this video by Lady Gaga - life in the natural world can be beautiful and terrifying simultaneously. But I'm here to tell you there is great healing and transformation available to those with the courage to opt out of living a life of fear and retribution and step into doing any little thing to support abundance by bringing love and kindness into this life via our communities and personal lifestyles. Not one drop of honestly is ever lost even when it is met with scorn. It is all fuel for love and healing.

"...No matter gay, straight, or bi

Lesbian, transgendered life

I'm on the right track, baby

I was born to survive

No matter black, white, or beige

Chola or orient made

I'm on the right track, baby

I was born to be brave!..."
