Hafiz surmises that we would be beside ourselves and screaming for joy were it not for our orientation towards building and maintaining civilization at such a maddening pitch. We are powerful and misuse our power to wield it over others. We are surrounded by abundance, love and nourishment from our planet and these gifts are reduced to "resources" and "commodities" by hundreds of years of assimilation and dominance over the earth energy. That is a lot of misuse of power and consequence to wade through to meet our own divinity.
I'm thinking that the reason that we are not screaming drunks is the same reason that we cannot allow nice things for ourselves and others. We have wanted to control everything and everyone to ensure our comfort and safety in the world. We have long forgotten how this is really no form of safety, security or peace at all but the feeble handling of a breakable glass that once held everything. We have opposable thumbs and nefarious desires to oppress others that keeps us staggering through our lives..
Thank you for listening.

Music: Tears For Fears and Everybody Wants to Rule the World came to me while I was writing this. So here you are. A classic in all of its mulleted 80's brilliance.
